PTO 281 Series Hydraulic PowerShift  Overview

The Chelsea 281 Series Hydraulic PowerShift PTO, developed by Parker Hannifin, is a high-performance power take-off specifically engineered for Allison 3000/4000 series automatic transmissions. Designed with a robust 10-bolt mounting configuration and hydraulic shift mechanism, it provides reliable and efficient power transfer from the transmission to auxiliary hydraulic equipment.

As an upgraded evolution of the proven 280 series, the 281 Series integrates multiple structural enhancements to improve durability, reduce vibration, and extend service life under modern high-torque engine conditions.

The PTO features a Hydraulic PowerShift (hot shift) system, allowing smooth engagement without stopping the engine, significantly reducing shock loads during start-up and ensuring stable operation in continuous-duty applications.

  • Improved Seal – O-ring sealing configuration to reduce vibrational effects and improve clamp load.

1.How does the variable displacement work?

The pump's flow is adjusted by changing the angle of an internal swash plate. As the swash plate angle changes, the stroke length of the pistons varies, which in turn changes the volume of fluid displaced per rotation, allowing the flow rate to adapt to the system's needs.
