Product Description
The Parker PGP502 is a high-performance, fixed-displacement aluminum gear pump designed for compact hydraulic systems that demand high efficiency and reliable operation in a small footprint. As the most compact member of the PGP500 series, the PGP502 features a high power-to-weight ratio, making it an ideal solution for small mobile equipment, medical machinery, and light industrial applications where space is at a premium and performance cannot be compromised.
Exceptional Efficiency and Precision: Utilizing pressure-balanced bearing blocks, the PGP502 ensures maximum volumetric and mechanical efficiency across all operating conditions. This design minimizes internal leakage and friction, resulting in stable power delivery and reduced energy consumption.
Ultra-Quiet 9-Tooth Gear Design: Specifically engineered with a specialized 9-tooth gear profile (unlike the 13-tooth design of larger models), the PGP502 significantly reduces pressure pulsations and operational noise. This makes it perfectly suited for noise-sensitive environments such as medical facilities or indoor workspaces.
High-Pressure Performance in a Compact Frame: Despite its small size, the PGP502 is capable of handling continuous operating pressures of up to 280 bar (4060 psi). High-strength materials and large journal diameters ensure low bearing loads, enhancing durability during high-pressure duty cycles.
Lightweight Aluminum Construction: The high-strength extruded aluminum body offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and efficient heat dissipation. This robust yet lightweight design simplifies installation in weight-sensitive mobile applications while ensuring a long service life.
Versatile Customization and Integration: The PGP502 offers a wide range of displacements (from 0.8 to 7.9 cc/rev) and multiple international mounting options, including SAE and rectangular flanges. With various shaft configurations (splined, keyed, or tapered) and integrated valve capabilities, it provides unmatched flexibility for both new and existing hydraulic circuits.

Applications
Mobile Cooling & Lubrication: Frequently employed in fan drive systems and forced lubrication circuits for heavy machinery, ensuring consistent thermal management and component protection.
PGP502 pumps are typically packaged securely to prevent damage during transit. The packaging includes:
Protective Wrapping: To safeguard the pump from environmental damage.
Custom Crates: For larger, heavier pumps, ensuring safe handling.
Documentation: Includes installation, maintenance instructions, and warranty details.
Delivery time depends on the model, customizations, and location but typically ranges from 2 to 6 weeks from the order date.
The PGP502 is the most compact high-performance, fixed-displacement external gear pump within Parker’s PGP500 aluminum family. It features a high-strength extruded aluminum body and a specialized 9-tooth gear profile. Engineered for space-constrained environments, it provides a reliable, lightweight power source for applications requiring high pressure and quiet operation in a small frame.
9-Tooth Design: Optimized specifically for its smaller displacement range, the 9-tooth geometry minimizes flow ripple and noise, making it quieter than economy-grade small pumps.
Pressure-Balanced Bearing Blocks: It incorporates advanced pressure-balanced blocks that maintain tight internal clearances, ensuring high volumetric efficiency and consistent performance even at high temperatures.
Extreme Compactness: It delivers high-pressure capability (up to 280 bar) in a footprint significantly smaller than the PGP505, making it the industry standard for micro-power units.
3. What is the working pressure range of PGP502 pumps
Continuous Pressure: Up to 280 bar (4060 PSI).
Intermittent/Peak Pressure: Up to 310 bar (4500 PSI).
This allows the PGP502 to power high-force actuators that would typically require much larger hydraulic components.
Mounting Flange: SAE AA, European 4-bolt, or rectangular layouts.
Shaft Type: Small splined, keyed, or tapered shaft dimensions.
Porting: BSPP, SAE O-ring thread, or specialized manifold mountings.
Oil Type: High-quality mineral-based hydraulic fluids with Anti-Wear (AW) additives.
Viscosity: ISO VG32 to VG46 is standard for most environments. The optimal operating viscosity range is between 15 and 75 cSt.
Filtration: Cleanliness is vital for small-displacement pumps. Parker recommends a minimum filtration level of 17/14/11 per ISO 4406 to prevent premature wear of the gear tips and bearing blocks.

PGP502 pumps are manufactured in compliance with international standards, ensuring high performance and reliability:
ISO 9001: Certified for quality management systems.
CE Certification: Ensures compliance with European safety, health, and environmental protection standards.
RoHS Compliance: Ensures the pump does not contain hazardous materials.
Factory Testing: Every pump is rigorously tested for performance, pressure, and leak integrity before shipping.
The pump's flow is adjusted by changing the angle of an internal swash plate. As the swash plate angle changes, the stroke length of the pistons varies, which in turn changes the volume of fluid displaced per rotation, allowing the flow rate to adapt to the system's needs.
