Product Description

GHP1 SERIES Gear Pump  Overview

The Marzocchi GHP1 is a high-performance, fixed-displacement gear pump engineered for demanding hydraulic systems that require a combination of high-pressure capability and long-term durability. As part of the prestigious GHP series, the GHP1 features a hybrid material construction that delivers superior mechanical strength, making it an ideal choice for heavy-duty mobile equipment, agricultural machinery, and high-cycle industrial power units.

Features and Benefits

  • Robust Hybrid Construction for High Pressures:
Unlike standard aluminum pumps, the GHP1 combines a high-strength extruded aluminum alloy body with  spheroidal cast iron flanges and rear covers. This hybrid design provides the rigidity necessary to handle continuous operating pressures of up to  270 bar (3,915 psi) while maintaining a favorable power-to-weight ratio.
  • High Volumetric and Mechanical Efficiency:
The GHP1 utilizes a sophisticated axial compensation system with special pressure-balanced bushings. This technology minimizes internal fluid bypass and friction losses, ensuring consistent performance and high energy efficiency even at high temperatures and low speeds.
  • Advanced Low-Noise Gear Profile:
Equipped with hardened and ground steel gears that feature a specialized tooth profile, the GHP1 is designed to minimize pressure ripples and operational vibration. This results in a significant reduction in noise levels, enhancing operator comfort in mobile applications.
  • Exceptional Durability and Service Life:
The pump is built with large-diameter journals and high-load capacity bearings to reduce surface pressure and wear. High-quality sealing systems and precision-machined components allow the GHP1 to excel in heavy-duty cycles and harsh environments where reliability is critical.
  • Flexible Configuration and Modular Design:
The GHP1 series offers a versatile range of displacements (from  1.4 to 13.8 cc/rev) and supports multiple international mounting standards, including  European, SAE, and German flanges. With various shaft types (tapered, splined, or keyed) and the ability to be configured into multiple-stage pumps, it integrates seamlessly into diverse hydraulic circuit designs.

Applications

The Marzocchi GHP1 series provides a robust, high-pressure power solution specifically engineered for demanding environments where mechanical strength and long-term reliability are paramount:
  • Agricultural & Forestry Machinery: A primary choice for tractor steering systems, small harvesters, and wood splitters, where the cast-iron construction withstands the high shock loads and vibration typical of outdoor work.

  • Heavy-Duty Material Handling: Optimized for forklifts, tail lifts, and aerial work platforms that require consistent lifting power and high-pressure stability in continuous duty cycles.

  • Construction & Earthmoving Equipment: Widely used in mini-excavators, skid steer loaders, and compactors for auxiliary hydraulic functions and pilot control systems, ensuring precision under high operating temperatures.

  • Industrial Power Units: Ideal for high-cycle hydraulic systems in manufacturing, such as small plastic injection machines, scrap balers, and industrial clamping units that demand minimal pressure pulsations.

  • Commercial Vehicle Systems: Frequently employed in hydraulic power steering, garbage compactor controls, and lifting mechanisms for utility trucks, offering a durable solution for high-frequency mobile applications.

GHP1 Gear Pump  FAQ

1. What are GHP1 series gear pumps

The GHP1 is a high-performance, fixed-displacement external gear pump that represents the "heavy-duty" evolution of Marzocchi’s Group 1 series. It features a hybrid design with a high-strength extruded aluminum body and  spheroidal cast iron flanges and covers. Engineered for durability, it provides a robust power source for demanding mobile and industrial applications where high pressure and mechanical fatigue resistance are critical.

2. What makes the GHP1 different from standard aluminum gear pumps

The GHP1 is distinguished by its superior structural rigidity and material composition:
  • Cast Iron End Caps: Unlike standard all-aluminum pumps (like the ALP series), the GHP1 uses cast iron flanges and rear covers. This significantly reduces material deflection under high pressure, leading to longer seal life and better efficiency.

  • High-Pressure Resilience: The hybrid construction allows the GHP1 to operate reliably at continuous pressures that would typically cause "body fatigue" or internal wear in standard aluminum pumps.

  • Precision Balancing: It utilizes advanced axial compensation with pressure-balanced bushings that automatically adjust to operating conditions, maintaining high volumetric efficiency throughout the pump's life.

3. What is the working pressure range of GHP1 pumps

The GHP1 is built for high-intensity hydraulic duty cycles. Depending on the displacement size, the series typically handles:
  • Continuous Pressure: Up to 270 bar (3,915 PSI).

  • Intermittent/Peak Pressure: Up to 310 bar (4,500 PSI).
This high-pressure capability allows the GHP1 to drive heavy-duty actuators in agricultural and construction machinery within a compact Group 1 frame.

4. Can GHP1 pumps replace other brands

Yes, the GHP1 is designed to international standards and is a premium upgrade or replacement for other high-performance Group 1 pumps, such as the  Parker PGP502Casappa GXP1, or  Bosch Rexroth AZPG series. For a successful crossover, you must verify:
  • Mounting Flange: European 4-bolt (standard), SAE A, or specialized bolt patterns.

  • Shaft Type: Tapered (1:8), splined, or keyed shafts.

  • Porting: Threaded ports (BSPP or SAE) or flanged ports to match your existing plumbing.

5. What hydraulic oil is suitable for GHP1 gear pumps

To maximize the service life of the cast iron and aluminum interface, the following fluid specifications are recommended:
  • Oil Type: Mineral-based hydraulic oils with high Anti-Wear (AW) or Extreme Pressure (EP) additives.

  • Viscosity: A standard range of ISO VG32 to VG46. The optimal operating viscosity is between 12 and 100 cSt, though it can handle up to 750 cSt during cold starts.

  • Filtration: Maintaining fluid cleanliness is essential. Marzocchi recommends a contamination level of ISO 4406 20/18/15 for pressures below 140 bar, and a stricter 18/16/13 for operations above 210 bar.

6. What is the typical speed range of GHP1 pumps

The GHP1 series is versatile across a wide speed spectrum, typically operating between 600 RPM and 6,000 RPM (depending on the specific displacement). Its ability to maintain high efficiency at high rotational speeds makes it excellent for direct-coupling to modern high-speed electric motors or engine power take-offs (PTOs).

7. Do you provide OEM or customized services

FAQ

1.How does the variable displacement work?

The pump's flow is adjusted by changing the angle of an internal swash plate. As the swash plate angle changes, the stroke length of the pistons varies, which in turn changes the volume of fluid displaced per rotation, allowing the flow rate to adapt to the system's needs.
